Ski Jumping Equipment
Ski Jumping is a highly technical Skiing Discipline. Thus, jumpers need the appropriate Skiing equipment and Ski Outfit that will aid them to execute their jumps as well as to ensure their safety.
Here are some tips on Ski Jumping equipment and clothing:
Ski jumpers use heavy jumping Skis specially designed for this Skiing Discipline. The skis are their main atribute. The FIS regulations state that the length shell not exceed 147% of a jumper's height and their width shell not be wider than 11.5cm and 10,5cm at the bindings. The price fluctuates around 400 Euro. Another important piece of equipment are ski bindings whose technology has considerably evolved in terms of their safety in the last few years. Bindings and the way they should be geared up are also regulated by the FIS. They should be attached to the skis at 57% of the total ski length.
A Ski jumper must have Ski Boots that allow him to lean forward during a flight. These Ski Boots are flexible but firm, high-backed, and with a low cut at the front. They are made from leather. Their average price oscilates around from 250 to 600 DM. Ski jumpers require aerodynamic stretch Ski Jumping suits. The entirety of the Ski Jumping suit must be made of the same material whose thickness is 5 mm (FIS regulated). The price of a suit is about 500 Euro. Jumpers are also obligated to wear a helmet and goggles.
