Keno Rules

The word "Keno" may have French or Italian roots (fr. quine – five winning numbers, l. quini – each five), but the game may have originated in China over 2000 years ago. As legend has it the invention of this game saved one of the ancient cities in time of war and its popularization helped raise funds for building the Great Wall of China. According to one of the sources, results of Keno games in big cities were sent to outlying villages by carrier pigeon. Eventually, Chinese immigrants introduced Keno to the Western Civilization when they sailed across the Pacific to help build the American trans-continental railroad in the 19th century.

Keno at Players View

Kenois like a typical chance game in which players have a card with numbers from which they can select a few in hopes that they will match those drawn. Early Keno games were based on a match of only five numbers.

The play:

First, players must purchase a Keno ticket. To buy a ticket, place a $1 chip in the circle marked 'Place Bets' in the betting area. None of the betting options will be active until a ticket is purchased.

Next, players try to predict which numbers will be drawn by marking from 1 to 15 of the numbered squares on the board. To mark a square, players should mouse over it and click it. The square will change color to indicate it has been marked. As the spots are marked, their number will be displayed in the Spots section at the bottom of the screen. (it is possible to mark more than 15 spots, but the numbers can’t be drawn until the number of spots is reduced to 15). To remove a mark, player should click on the spot and it will change back to the original color.

There are five betting options in Keno. Each option requires a certain number of spots that are marked before it becomes active. After the selection of the desired spots the buttons for the options will be highlighted.

If player is satisfied with his choice, he clicks on the wager option and starts the game. Twenty rocks will be hurled from the catapult towards the castle (having numbered blocks in its wall). The rocks strike the wall at random. As each rock smashes a block in the wall, a flag will unfurl to display the number that has been hit. When a number marked by the player on the wall is struck by one of the rocks, the flag for that number changes color to red.

After the last rock has found its target, the player will be paid according to the payout table for the chosen betting option.

BETTING OPTIONS:

Keno game is played with a traditional eighty-numbered ticket and a draw of 20 numbers. The ticket is sectioned into a two halves, with numbers 1-40 on top and 41-80 on the bottom. The game has become more interesting by presenting the actual coupon as a castle wall with 80 numbers painted on it. Instead of drawing balls to announce winning combinations, the game uses a rock thrown from a catapult to hit the block corresponding to each number drawn.

Five different ways to bet on a Keno ticket are:

1. BET

2. BET AGAINST

3. HIT ALL

4. HIGH ROLLER

5. TOP OR BOTTOM

Click on the links above to get more information about the option and the payout. After each game a RE-BET option is available, which enables the player to re-bet numbers that were selected in his previous round. Different betting options are available after some numbers have been selected. The player, however, can not select more numbers than 15 per one game.

BET

The BET option is enabled once the player marks at least one spot on the Keno ticket. (When a BET button is clicked, the game starts – so don’t click it until you are finished marking your numbers). The player can mark up to 15 of the 80 possible numbers. Winnings are paid if one or more of the numbers he marked is smashed by a rock from the catapult. When a number he marked on the wall is struck by one of the rocks, that’s called a 'hit".

Let's assume that the player has marked 7 numbers. If 4 of 7 were hit, the player receives a payout of $5. If 5 of 7 were hit, the player receives a payout of $20. If 6 of 7 were hit, the player receives a payout of $250, and with 7 numbers, he wins $2000!

The following is the Bet option payout table for a $1.00 ticket.
