BOXING
Boxing, a fist fighting is the sport for both men and women, done according to specific rules. Its objective is to strike the greatest possible number of legal blows to the opponent without receiving reciprocal blows. The winner must have a point advantage for all the legal punches or to knock the opponent out. The boxing fights are held in a boxing ring. In general the fight is between 2 contestants of the same weight class. Both of them use boxing gloves made of leather or similar material padded inside. In the amateur boxing, the fighters use the 228g gloves and the professionals go with ones that weigh 171g. The amateur boxing distinguishes 12 weight classes: Straw weight - 48 kilos; Flyweight - 51 kilos; Bantamweight - 54 kilos; Featherweight - 57 kilos; Lightweight - 60 kilos; Junior Welterweight - 63,5 kilos; Welterweight - 67 kilos; Middleweight - 71 kilos; Super Middleweight - 75 kilos; Light Heavyweight - 81 kilos; Cruiser weight - 91 kilos; Heavyweight - over 91 kilos. In the professional boxing there are 17 basic weight classes. Each boxer has a Chief Second and his assistant whose role is to prepare the fighter and give him tips and necessary help during one-minute pause before each round. The fight is supervised by a referee and the role of judges is to determine the legality of each blow. In the amateur boxing the fight is 5 rounds long with 2 minutes per round. In the professional boxing on the other hand, the duration of the fight is determined by the contract with a specific number of rounds (max 15). The fight is supervised by the referee and 5 judges. The boxing match may finish in victory by points or knockout (only if the fighter is not able to get up and assume the fighting position within at least 10 seconds), by referee stopping contest (RSC - when a boxer is outclassed or unfit to continue), by surrender (when the fighter or his Second make a decision to discontinue the fight), by disqualification (decision of the Referee), or a tie or forfeit (without a fight).
