A very interesting veriant of Blackjack is Blackjack Switch. The player is
allowed to trade cards between two hands. He must make two bets of equal size and
is allowed to switch the second card dealt to each hand. Of course, like in
life, nothing comes free. A dealer 22 is considered to be so called "push" and
blackjack pays the odds of 1:1. Currently the game is played in on-line casinos
using Playtech software.
All the rules are based on the standard blackjack with the following
exceptions:
- The player must make two bets of equal size,
- The palyer can switch only the second card delt to each hand, for instance,
if the first starting hand is (5,10), and the second (10,6) – the palyer can
switch 10 and 6, which will result in (5,6) and (10,10). Those are, of course,
much better hands.
- Six decks are used,
- Dealer is allowed to hit a so called "soft 17",
- Doubling down on any two cards,
- The player is allowed to double after a split,
- Resplitting is not permitted,
- Blackjack pays the odds of 1:1,
- A dealer total of 22 will push against any player total of 21 or less. A
player blackjack will still win over a dealer total of 22.
- The player loses his entire bet against a dealer blackjack, but he can
switch his cards to a blackjack, even if the dealer has a blackjack.
